Lacrime di Sole 2018

Sun Drops

Petit Manseng late harvest

Lacrime di Sole is obtained from a late harvest of Pètit Manseng grapes obtained from a vineyard located in a small valley whose position facilitates the formation of noble rot, which the French more prosaically call “Pourriture Noble”, which determine unique varietal aspects in wine.

We recommend it specifically to accompany cheeses such as our fantastic Tuscan pecorino seasoned for 4-5 months.

Absolutely suggested also  or for mignon pastries based on creams and mousses.

Lacrime di Sole has a straw yellow colour with amber and golden hues, the nose has a scent of fresh tropical fruit, mango in the first place, dried apricot, acacia flowers and bergamot.

We recommend drinking it by 2025, to appreciate its full potential.

Description

Lacrime di Sole 2018 – Pètit Manseng – late harvest

We are pleased to present the new born of our cellar.

Lacrime di Sole is a late harvest of Pètit Manseng grapes obtained from a vineyard located in a small valley.  The soil of the valley is rich in limestone, which gives finesse to this sweet wine.

Lacrime di Sole literally means “sun drops” and believe us they are really sun drops!

Whose position facilitates the formation of noble rot,  well know also as Pourriture Noble” in France. The noble rot determine unique varietal aspects in this wine. In Italy this sort of wine is often called “Muffato”.

The grapes were harvested by hand in the first part of November 2018.

Subsequently we carried out a soft pressing of the golden bunches of Petit Manseng. Once the grapes were pressed, the must obtained was sent for natural fermentation at low temperatures. The duration of the fermentation cycle was about 40 days.

At the end of it, we put the nectar immediately into two 225 liter Hungarian oak barrels where it underwent malolactic fermentation. The young wine was also subjected to bâtonnage for several weeks.

In December 2019 the wine was finally ready to go in the bottle and to delight all our admirers with an eye to the fairer sex, as this is an intriguing wine dedicated to all women.

Food Pairing:

We recommend it specifically to accompany cheeses such as our fantastic Tuscan pecorino seasoned 4-5 months in oval pits excavated into the rock. If you live in US, you can drink it with the Californian “Red Hawk” cheese. Absolutely suggested also or for mignon pastries based on creams and mousses.

Lacrime di Sole has a straw yellow colour with amber and golden hues, the nose has a scent of fresh tropical fruit. Mango in the first place, dried apricot, acacia flowers and bergamot.

Lacrime di Sole, crowns the will of our winery to establish itself as one of the most important Italian wineries for the production of niche dessert wines.

We recommend drinking it by 2025, to appreciate its full flavour.   The natural brother of this wine is our traminer, “L’Oro di Brumaio”, we also warmly recommend this wine.
